I have always loved using fake eyelashes when creating different makeup looks either on myself or with clients. You can really change a makeup look by simply adding a pair of great lashes. These two brands of lashes are the ones I will reach for the most and have repurchased time and time again. I will be comparing the two, what I like and dislike about them both.

Ardell Demi Wispies lashes.

These are such a classic lash they are the perfect fluttery lashes that can be worn for daytime and evening makeup looks. Whether you want to keep it more natural with a slight fluttery lash or if you want to go full glam with a smokey eye and winged liner, these are perfect.

I find the application of these lashes so easy and have never had trouble with them fitting to different eye shapes.

They also suit most eye shapes as the slight length on the outer edge really opens up the eyes. I like the wispy ends which make the lash look much more natural and more like a real lash.

Once trimmed down to the right shape, they seem to just slot straight onto the upper lash line.

I usually blend in a lash with a thin line of eyeliner to cover the band, but with these lashes I find sometimes you don't have to as the band just blends into the natural lash line so seamlessly.

They are a very popular lash and can be found in most drugstores or online. They are also quite reasonably priced at around £5-£6 per pack or can also be bought in multi packs for £19 for five, which I find good for using on clients.

Depending on where you purchase your lashes from most places are now selling Ardell Demi Wispies with a small Duo lash glue included, which is a great lash glue and helps when applying the lashes yourself. If you have a decent glue it should help with how long your lashes will stay on for. There is nothing worse than a lash hanging off half way through the day or your night out.

I have found for myself and from many clients feedback that the Demi Wispies are a very durable lash and seem to last a very long time once applied. As they are a fairly light weight lash they don't weigh the eye down and therefore don't seem to lift on the edges.

Eylure 117's.

These lashes are also a great eyelash that I have been using for years and have always loved. I started using these lashes way before I was a makeup artist and have continued to love them ever since.

I think these are the perfect length lash and are also so versatile on any eye shape. They are fluffy but also quiet dense, which adds a nice amount of thickness to the lashes a little more thickness than the Demi Wispies.

These lashes are also very simple to apply once trimmed down.

I would say that I usually recommend this type of lash for a more evening look or for someone who likes a slightly fuller lash as they add a little more volume.

The lash band to the Eylure 117's is also slightly thicker so usually needs blending in with a thin line of eyeliner which makes it slightly harder to wear on a more natural eye look.

As the lash band is slightly thicker it can sometimes lift at the edges when not glued properly as they are heavier on the eyes. To insure this doesn't happen just make sure there is plenty of glue applied to the outer edges and the glue is tacky before being applied to the lash line.

These lashes are also very reasonably priced around £4-£5 depending on which shop you buy them from. Always including a mini Eylure glue. They are also more easily accessible than the Demi Wispies and can be found in most large supermarkets and drugstores.

With all lashes that I either use on my self or clients, I think if treated well they can be used up to 5 times or even more. Which I have found from both pairs of lashes. If you clean your lashes after every use and make sure they are kept back in the box or stored away nicely they should keep well.

Removing the glue from your lashes can be done with a cotton bud or pad and some gentle eye makeup remover. Gently wipe across the lash band and the glue will slowly start peeling off. You don't want to peel the glue off before soaking it as this can damage the shape of the lash and will be much harder to re apply the lashes the next time.

I would defiantly reach for the Ardell Demi Wispies more as I have been using them much more recently, but I still love both lashes. I think that I will always use and like a more reasonably priced lash much more. I have found that more high end lashes aren't always worth the money.
