Trying out The Revlon Hot Brush!

Finally I got my hands on the Revlon hot brush for Christmas and I'm so pleased I did. I had seen so many people doing reviews of their own on this hot brush and couldn't wait to try it out myself. I would say its definitely a great product for using on yourself and having time at home to use it was great. I have really enjoyed using it and have chosen it over my normal hair dryer and straighteners a few times now to get some more practise. I usually wash my hair 2-3 times a week using a normal hair dryer to rough dry my hair and use my straightener to smooth it out after. I have naturally wavy/curly hair with quiet a bit of frizz, which is why I have to smooth it out with the straighteners to make it last a couple of days. I was a little sceptical to start off with. not knowing how it would work with smoothing out my frizzy hair. But I loved the idea of a blowdrying brush, as I had never used anything like this before. I have the GHD hot brush, but it can't be used on wet hair. I mainly use it to smooth out my hair once already dried or for second day hair which it is very good at but I wanted to give something similar a try.

The first time I used the Revlon hot brush I was really surprised with the outcome. I started with towel dried hair and put my normal blowdrying products in and began to separate my hair. I started at the bottom of my head and sectioned the hair into two, down the middle. It needed a little bit of getting used to to begin with, as it seemed slightly odd at first but it became easy to use after a while. It has 3 different settings, I went for the hottest one first. When blowdrying, tension is very important. You want to feel tension in the hair when smoothing it out to make sure that you are smoothing the cuticle. I found that it dried the hair much better than I thought and didn't take too many goes to get the hair dry right from the root. I tried to smooth out the top sections of hair which is where my main frizz is. Once I was happy with the hair being dry and smooth enough I moved onto the ends as I wanted to try and create a slight bend.

My hair has got quiet long during the last couple of months in lockdown, just under boob length, but due to not being able to get a hair cut, my ends are feeling a little dry. I think that once the ends of my hair are a little fresher and not feeling so dry they will bend and hold a curl a little better.

Once I had used it a few times I realised that using slightly bigger sections is actually much better, as you can see in the picture the barrel of the brush is quiet wide and can grip to a larger section of hair. The bristles in the brush run really smoothly through my hair and didn't create any knots or tangles which was really good as it made it much easier to use.

I have enjoyed using the Revlon hot brush over the last few weeks and will continue to use it occasionally when I have a little more time to style my hair. I would say that the hot brush is better at styling my hair than taking the time to blow-dry with a round brush but not good at dealing with the frizz! I am glad that I received it as a christmas present and finally got to give it a try.
